No Day Like a Snow Day

So, I went to work this morning and it wasn't snowing, left work and there were six inches on the ground, go figure. I went outside when I got home to get a few shots in before it got dark and ran into some of the maintenance people shoveling the walkway. They were some of the friendliest people even though they were stuck shoveling the campus, I sure wouldn't have been smiling.

Aren't Wii Having Fun Yet?

So, super busy week = no posts, but starting this week I'll be posting 3 times a week for class. I am super excited to start concentrating on making my photos better. Here is one I just took of some of my Wii games. When I have more time I hope to do a few more pictures with the Wii and it's games/accessories.

From the Desk of Amy

So today I realized my limitation of just taking pictures at my desk and that all of them are just turning out to be still life close-ups. I think I need to try and go outdoors and see what I can find to photograph. However, the fact that it's Winter does not quite appeal to me. Hopefully I will get a chance to get out this weekend and get a better variety of subjects. Today's subjects are my dark chocolate buttercreams and Myrtle the turtle who I made out of felt this summer. Hope you enjoy!

Practice Makes Perfect (Not Quite)

Another early day! Since it's probably the last one for awhile I figured I'd use it for all it's worth and get some shots in before I go to work. Although "class" hasn't started yet, I like motivating myself to take at least one picture a day. I think this daily routine will help me to get more comfortable with my camera and help me to work on my skills. I hope to leave this class with more confidence in my photography skills and the only way that will happen is if I continue to practice them and learn from my mistakes.

Trinkets

Got out of clinical orientation early, so I decided to take a few snaps before lunch. I was just playing around with some stuff on my desk and my lamp. For some reason I really fell in love with my piggy bank I made at Color Me Mine and how it looked with the dark and the light. I find that taking these pictures made me realize how much character there is in such seemingly insignificant items.

Fun in the Office

When I got back from class last night, I got a little inspired to shoot, so as I started my blog in the office I took some random pics. I'm definitely struggling with learning how to use everything so far, but I look forward to the challenge.

And in the beginning there was a novice . . .

So . . . a blog?! I've never done one before, but hey, there's always a first time for everything right? I figured I would start with some of my favorite photographs that I have taken prior to taking this class. I hope to look back on these after I finish the course and see how much I have progressed in my photography skills. Enjoy!
